What To Look For In A Baby Bodysuit

It's often difficult to know what clothes you need to buy your baby. A baby bodysuit is an essential piece of clothing that every new parent needs. In fact you will probably need to stock up on them en masse. It forms the foundation for nearly every outfit your baby will wear. It provides an extra layer of warmth and prevents other clothing from rubbing against your baby’s sensitive skin.

In case you're wondering, a baby bodysuit and a baby onesie are really the same thing. The name "baby onesie", is trademarked by the Gerber Company so other companies in the baby clothes business coined the name "baby bodysuit" for identical clothing.

Baby bodysuits can serve as an item of clothing on their own or as layering with other clothes. It depends on the style and also on the climate where you live.

There are quite a few different kinds of baby bodysuits available, from primary colors and other basic designs to ones that have messages printed on them. Whichever type of bodysuit you choose, there are a few things that you should look for before purchasing.

Seat snaps. These give you easy access when it's time to change a diaper. They can also be called "crotch snaps". These are important as they help hold the bodysuit in place and prevent it from riding up, leaving your baby's delicate skin exposed.

Shoulder snaps. These are handy as they allow you to quickly get the bodysuit over your baby's head with a minimum of fuss. Most babies don't like having clothes pulled over their head so you will find shoulder snaps to be a godsend. These are especially important when a baby is still very young and their necks are still not very strong. Some bodysuits will have an envelope styled neck. This is just as good as having shoulder snaps, and will make dressing your baby easier.

Material. Generally organic materials are better. Choose organic cotton or even bamboo. You will want to be sure that you are using the finest and softest material you can since this will be touching your baby's skin directly. If you aren't able to buy organic material, you could also buy 100% cotton bodysuits, these are almost as good as organic and are more readily available.

One more thing to note, you should purchase your baby onesies in the 3-6 months sizes. Most babies will only fit in the 0-3 months sizes for a few weeks at most. A few bodysuits in the 0-3 month size will be more than enough.

Baby bodysuits are something that you will use on a daily basis. They are one of the most essential items when you have a newborn in the house, and you will probably need a large quantity. You should purchase at least 7 to 10 and more as necessary. Babies are known for being messy and you don't want to spend too much time doing laundry especially in your first few weeks at home.

Parents today have quite a lot of options when it comes to baby clothes. I hope the tips in this article have been useful and make shopping for baby clothes much more convenient.
